Statement on the Extinction Rebellion Heathrow Action Tomorrow

“We are facing a manmade disaster on a global scale.

“It may sound frightening but the scientific evidence is that if we have not taken dramatic action within the next decade we could face irreversible damage to the natural world and the collapse of our societies.

“We’re running out of time but there’s still hope … I believe that if we better understand the threat we face, the more likely it is that we can avoid such a catastrophic future.” [1] [2]

“What happens now and in these next few years will profoundly affect the next few thousand years.” [3]

Sir David Attenborough begins to tell the truth.

Let’s all watch BBC’s Climate Change – The Facts tonight. BBC1 9pm.

Our Demands

  1. Government must tell the truth by declaring a climate and ecological emergency, working with other institutions to communicate the urgency for change.
  2. Government must act now to halt biodiversity loss and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2025.
  3. Government must create and be led by the decisions of a Citizens’ Assembly on climate and ecological justice.
