Message from Roger Hallam to fellow rebels - Extinction Rebellion UK

Message from Roger Hallam to fellow rebels

Yesterday (Monday 16 September) Roger Hallam – cofounder of Extinction Rebellion – appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates Court and was remanded in custody having been charged with conspiring to cause disruption at Heathrow Airport.

This was for his role as part of the Heathrow Pause action, which is separate to Extinction Rebellion.

Roger declined bail and the case will be heard at Isleworth Crown Court on 14 October.

Roger said to the court that “Heathrow expansion constitutes a crime against humanity, against the next generation.”

Below is a message from Roger to fellow rebels:

I will be fine.

Don’t worry about me.

I have my books and paper to write on.

Please focus on the task at hand.

We need to realise the total seriousness of the job we have given ourselves – to save our young people and this beautiful world from destruction.

There can be no greater responsibility.

It will require enormous effort and sacrifice.

Let’s not fool ourselves about what we are up against and what is required of us.

Together we will overcome.

It is an honour and a privilege to be in rebellion with you.

I love you all.

Good luck!
