Funeral March

20 July 2019
12:00 - 16:00 (UTC +01:00)

Peterborough City Centre, Peterborough, United Kingdom

hosted by

Extinction Rebellion Peterborough

Invitation to all deeply concerned by the climate and ecological crisis.

Convene in Peterborough Cathedral grounds, Saturday 20th July, 12pm, for a memorial and funeral procession in the city centre. This is an outreach, non-disruptive action. All Extinction Rebellion acts are founded upon the principle of non-violence.

We have entered the 6th mass extinction event. We come together to mourn all the life we’ve lost, are losing and are still to lose.

We Rebel because we love this world, it breaks our hearts to see it ravaged, to watch so many people and animals all over this world already dying, to know that this will soon happen to our children if nothing changes. There is no way forward without giving credence to our grief.

Dress in the appropriate dress for your culture for funerals, dress smart, to honour the dead, dress appropriate for the weather and maybe bring something to sit on.

Bring a wreath, flowers, pictures of environmental campaigners, of extinct or endangered species that we will lay upon a coffin. Homemade signs and personal messages most welcome.

We are serious, this is an emergency, this is our home we are watching fall.
