Extinction Rebellion London
XR’s Summer Uprising – ACT NOW! will initiate Extinction Rebellion’s first organised tax strike against the Greater London Authority. Inspired by Imogen May, a brave activist from Devon who refused to pay her council tax, we are planning to withhold the portion of our council tax that funds the GLA.
We are not prepared to fund an institution that continues to ignore the current impacts of environmental degradation, effecting London’s poorest communities the most, as well as the looming threat of ecological collapse.
That is why we are demanding the GLA stop all infrastructure projects polluting the air of London’s poorest communities and committing us all to extinction, and it must empower a citizen’s assembly to re-write the London Plan.
Join us on Thursday to declare our Tax Rebellion in front of the GLA, hear about how this form of civil disobedience fits within a long tradition and outline our demands for a greener, fairer London.
