CLIMATE EMERGENCY! What does it mean for us?
Hackney Council has just become latest local authority to declare a Climate Emergency, recognising the urgent need for action to halt the destruction of our planet.
This is brilliant news for East London – but what does a climate emergency actually mean, for us and our families around the world?
How will our lives have to change as the planet heats up?
And how did we get into this mess in the first place?
Extinction Rebellion invites you to talk, listen and think about all these questions at a People’s Assembly, outside Hackney Town Hall on July 14th.
People’s Assemblies are simply a crowd of people talking in an organised way, sharing their feelings and ideas about change. As the world becomes more and more atomized, meeting with strangers and sharing your feelings can itself be transformative.
Assemblies will run at 12pm and 2pm and last approximately an hour and a half. Just turn up on the day!
Make your voice heard, connect with your neighbours and share your hopes, fears and ideas for the future. The People’s Assembly is part of the East London Uprising, a weekend of play, protest and education about the climate crisis.
