Extinction Rebellion Lewisham +
Part of the South East London Rebel Rising
Oil spills on land and sea kill millions of birds and wild creatures every year. It is ‘The new Black Death’, covering animals and habitats with toxic substances, poisoning land and destroying communities. Extinction Rebellion will be making our own oil covered animals to provide a visual reminder of the ecocide caused by the carelessness of the fossil fuel industry. Starting at Lincoln Fields, we will prepare our animals and march towards the Extinction Rebellion boat situated near the entrance of the Maritime Museum. Named after Polly Higgins, the lawyer who has campaigned to make ecocide law, we will listen to speakers and leave behind an “animal graveyard.
Speakers include Anita Van Rossum, Head of Outreach and Campaigning at Stop Ecocide.
Meet at Lincoln Field at 3pm and arrive at The Polly Higgins boat at the Maritime Museum at 3.30
