Concerned about the climate crisis?

Let’s turn our ideas, hopes and fears into positive action.
Extinction Rebellion is hosting a two-day festival on Blackheath Common with the aim of bringing our local communities closer together in the face of unprecedented Global climate change.

Join us for an extinction funeral procession, creative discourse on climate solutions and training on direct action. You can get your clothes printed with our famous wood blocks, take part in collaborative artwork, hear from notable speakers, dance to live bands, watch engaging performances and more.

Set on Blackheath Common, a historical meeting point of the Suffragettes, Chartists, climate camps and the ‘Great Uprising’ of 1381, we are reclaiming the land and continuing in the tradition of rebellion.

In April, we staged an International Rebellion where ordinary citizens reclaimed the streets of London and more than 1,100 peaceful protestors were arrested as they called for urgent action. The UK parliament responded to one of our demands by declaring a climate emergency, but failed to agree to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2025, or to make plans to form a Citizens’ Assembly on climate and ecological justice.

In June, we swarmed major roads in South East London, highlighting the illegal levels of air pollution in our boroughs, which gained attention worldwide. This was echoed in the new mayoral campaign ‘Let London Breathe’. Despite this, we are still fighting against plans such as the construction of the Silverton Tunnel, which will cause excessive congestion and pollution around London schools and homes.

Extinction Rebellion South East are calling on our local councils to act on their declaration of a Climate Emergency, halt bio-diversity loss, support its citizens and hear their voices in the face of the climate crisis.
For the common good, we need to act now and we need to act together. Our planet needs us.
